According to a recent analysis by Moody's, stablecoins are unlikely to pose a significant threat to traditional banking institutions in the near term, particularly within the United States. The primary reasons include strict regulatory prohibitions on yield-bearing stablecoin models and the already highly robust traditional payment infrastructure currently in place. Because these digital assets cannot easily offer competitive yields under the current legal framework, traditional banks will maintain their strong market dominance. Consequently, stablecoins are expected to coexist rather than aggressively cannibalize the established banking sector's market share for the foreseeable future.
