TikTok is popular among youngsters for making short cut videos. So many regularly publish videos on TikTok. However, despite the opportunity to send a message to a specific person, this time, messages can be exchanged with multiple people at the same time on the Chinese-based video-based social media. To provide this new facility, TikTok has added the 'Group Chat' facility to its app.

Group chat feature has been added to tiktok recently. A maximum of 32 people can participate in a group chat using the app's direct message feature.

Currently this feature is only available for those aged 16 and above.

To start a TikTok group chat, go to the 'Inbox' menu and click on the 'Chat' icon at the top right. From there you can select your favorite users and press 'Start Group Chat' to start the group chat.

According to TikTok's official blog post, certain restrictions have been placed on group chats for the sake of personal privacy and the safety of relatively young users.

The first hurdle is that only people who follow each other can join the group chat. It is applicable for all age users.

Anyone can get the 'invite link' to join the group chat. However, for minors, the group chat must have at least one follower (who also follows the minor user). Otherwise you cannot join there.

Only those who have 'No One' selected in their Direct Message privacy settings can be invited to group chats. Group chat admins will have several powers. They can mute, block or report a user if necessary.

There are also restrictions on how many groups a person can join or create. There is also a maximum limit on how many times a message can be forwarded.

Along with group chat, TikTok is going to introduce custom sticker feature. This feature is only available to those 18 years or older. To use this feature, go to the chat option and press the 'Emoji' button. There you will find the 'Sticker Store Button'. From here you can choose between video stickers and sticker sets.
