Millions of Afghan women and children are facing a severe hunger and malnutrition crisis, warned Carl Skau, Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), in a statement to AFP on May 14. Skau emphasized that if it were not for the ongoing geopolitical conflicts between Afghanistan and Pakistan, alongside regional tensions involving Iran, the WFP would have the resources and capacity to feed an additional one million Afghan children in need.
