Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the owners of Liverpool, have reportedly pulled out of plans to invest in a La Liga club. For a while, they were interested in buying a majority stake in Getafe, but those plans are now shelved.

FSG was looking to emulate the multi-club ownership model by the City Group at Manchester City, examining several clubs in Spain that could have provided an opportunity. They first looked at Malaga and Girondins de Bordeaux before settling on Getafe. Club president and majority owner Angel Torres previously expressed willingness to sell.
