The General Department of Immigration (GDI) at the Ministry of Interior has issued a warning about fraudulent Cambodia e-arrival platforms, confirming that only two official websites are legitimate. The GDI clarified that “Cambodia-e-arrival.online” is not recognized by the government and does not operate under the GDI. The only official platforms for obtaining the Cambodia e-Arrival card are “www.arrival.gov.kh” and the “Cambodia e-Arrival” app.
In its statement, the GDI emphasized that the only fee associated with the electronic entry permit to Cambodia, accessible via “www.arrival.gov.kh” or the “Cambodia e-Arrival” app, is the visa fee.
“Travellers entering Cambodia through international airports should exercise extreme caution when accessing websites. It is essential to thoroughly verify the authenticity of any site to avoid fraudulent ones,” the GDI warned. They further stated, “The General Department of Immigration does not recognize any websites or applications that have not been officially announced by the Cambodian government. Individuals creating fake websites for personal profit should be reported and face legal consequences.”
Travellers are encouraged to reach out to the GDI’s hotline, Facebook page, or other social media channels if they suspect any irregularities.
The GDI is committed to rejecting any illegal platforms that could damage its reputation and that of Cambodia. They implored travellers to remain vigilant when using electronic systems.
Pa Chanrouen, a social analyst and president of the Cambodian Institute for Democracy (CID), highlighted the dangers of counterfeit e-visa websites, which can result in the theft of personal information and potential online scams. “Fake platforms can not only collect personal data from travellers coming to Cambodia, but travelers might also mistakenly pay application fees to them,” he noted. As online fraud rates continue to rise, Chanrouen stressed the urgent need for effective measures to address this issue.
