
n response to a request from the United States and approval by the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, the US Navy warship USS SAVANNAH (LCS 28), carrying a crew of 103, is scheduled to dock at the Preah Sihanouk Autonomous Port in Preah Sihanouk Province from December 16 to 20, 2024. The Cambodian Ministry of National Defence announced that this port call is intended to strengthen and deepen the friendship and bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and the United States.
This visit marks the first US Navy warship port call in Cambodia in eight years, and the 28th since 2007.
Over the course of the five-day visit, the ship’s delegation will engage in a variety of activities to foster cultural exchange and collaboration. These include a working meeting with the commander of the Ream Naval Base, discussions with the leadership of the Preah Sihanouk provincial administration, and a friendly sports competition between the crews of the US Navy and the Cambodian Navy, aimed at promoting camaraderie and teamwork. Additionally, several other cultural and goodwill programs are planned to further strengthen ties.
This visit represents an important milestone in the growing partnership between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the United States, reflecting a commitment to mutual understanding and cooperation.
