General Sem Sovanny, First Vice Chairman of the National Committee and Director General of the National Peacekeeping Centre, today met and provided guidance to three Chiefs of Staff who are preparing to go on a peacekeeping mission to the Republic of South Sudan and one observer to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
On the occasion, Sovanny brought greetings from Hun Sen, President of the Senate, Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and General Tea Seiha, Minister of National Defence and Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Chairman of the National Committee.
The General advised the Chiefs of Staff and observers to perform their duties in accordance with the United Nations regulations and with ethics, especially to adhere to and strictly implement the recommendations of Samdech Techo Hun Sen on April 12, 2006. All soldiers, officers, and observers must maintain democracy, solidarity, good cooperation with local authorities and people in the mission area, and strictly prohibit illegal trade.
General Sovanny stressed to the departing personnel, to strictly follow UN procedures and prohibit the trafficking of women, children, and alcohol. As well as obeying the orders of the commanders in the mission area and not to underestimate the work.
The General also wished the four officers to safe travel and success in fulfilling their duties to the nation.
