Tina receives courtesy call from Philippines Ambassador

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Dith Tina, on Tuesday received a courtesy call on from Flerida Ann Camille P Mayo, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Cambodia at the ministry.

During the meeting, the minister congratulated and welcomed the new ambassador to continue to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and promote investment in rice and pepper exports to the Philippines.

The Minister instructed the Philippine side to cooperate with the Cambodian Rice Federation, which has experience in packaging and techniques for exporting rice, as well as studying the hygiene procedures, phytosanitary, and laws between the two countries in depth.

At the same time, Mayo also mentioned the proposal to further strengthen the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Philippines and Cambodia, as well as to increase investment cooperation in agriculture and agribusiness in Cambodia.

In response, the Minister highlighted the proposal to further strengthen the MoU, focussing on what the two countries can do together, especially to promote agribusiness in a proactive and effective manner. At the same time, Tina added that Cambodia welcomes private sector investment in the rice sector, and can also supply high-quality agricultural products for exports.
